Question

Illustrator Pallets and Window Size

Hello I am running the most current version of Illustrator on an M1 Mac. I have a 2 screen set up.

Recently when using Illustrator or InDesign, pallets position and window size automatically default and revert. So for instance, a pallet that was in my upper right part of my screen is now on bottom left. Also when opening a file the window size is completely too large or too small.

Hi @steveg24619844,

We are sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing a few details along with the ones asked by @Kevin Stohlmeyer:

  • The exact version of macOS & Illustrator
  • Are you using multiple external monitor(s)? Does changing the primary screen to a different monitor help?
  • Are you using a custom workspace or making changes to default ones?
  • Does resetting your workspace and making changes to your workspace help?
  • Are you using the application frame?
  • A small video demonstrating the issue would be really helpful for us.
  • Have you tried resetting Illustrator & InDesign preferences?
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and apps will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

We are here to help. We just need more info.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini
