Illustrator pen

Hi y'all.
Can any one help me. When I use the pen tool and draw a line, it goes back to normal size. I have to klick again to get the effect. Why does it do that? I have tryed dubble clikking on the pen tool and set it on 'keep cellected' - nothing helps. It still goes back to an ordinary stroke.
