Illustrator pen glitch

Hi everyone, I am new to illustrator and I'm not sure if this is a glitch or just something I am doing wrong, but every time I go to use the pen tool it will end up looking like this as I draw:

It does this also with image trace and as I zoom in and out of it the white streaks will shift around but it is never a solid line

anyone know whats wrong?

Try View>Preview on CPU from the View menu or click on the Rocket icon in the control panel and turn off GPU acceleration entirely. It seems as though your video card can't handle the default.
