Question

Illustrator printing desaturated

Hi All

I am using Illustartor 2025 and when I go to print, the colours are very desaturated. The Red prints out as more of a burgendy colour.

We have tried both CMYK and RGB and they almost identical. All other colour settings seem to be greyed out.

I don't really know much about the colour settings or what could cause such a difference in colour between what is onscreen and what is being printed out.

If we print to PDF, the colours are fine

Would updating the print drivers help?

Is there a way to test to see if it's fault with the printer or the settings?

Thank you in advance

Is this a desktop printer or does it happen in offset printing?

How is the printer set up?

It's a network printer in the office.

And the rest are set up like what?

So when you save a PDF and then print that, the result is better? This would point to the printer not being able to correctly use what Illustrator sends.

Hello @reverse_2486,

I understand how troubling it can be to have desaturated prints. Would you mind sharing more details, like the document's color settings and the print settings used and screenshots of the file in Illustrator and the output so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your response.

Will upload the pictures, but first can you tell me exactly what settings you want to see and where I can find them?

Apologies, not the best with Adobe and there are so many differnet places to get settings from so if you could guide me to each setting you are after.

Thanks so much
