Hi,

I'm hoping to get some thoughts on why, suddenly, on a particular set of artboards in illustrator, it prints

only in landscape.  I have printed these many times before, and just now printed another 18x24 document

with no problems.  But this particular set of envelopes with graphics will NOT print landscape.  I have my settings written down and used the same as before.  I am printing on an HP

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. Could you please share a few more details along with the one asked by @Brad @ Roaring Mouse:

  • OS and version of Illustrtaor
  • Printer setting screenshot
  • Confirm, does it happen with some artboards in the same document, or is it different?
  • Have you checked the orientation setting in printer settings?
  • Did you try printing using PDF in Adobe Acrobat (if so, does it print with the same behavior, or does it print correctly)?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Have you tried removing the printer and installing it again?
  • Artboard may contain hidden objects or layers that exceed portrait dimensions, so the print settings automatically orient to landscape?
  • Could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here or via DM.

We are here to help. We just need more information.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

What System? Not only do the print settings in Illustrator have to be correct, the Page Setup for the printer itself needs to be appropriate. Maybe that's "wonky" for that one document.
