illustrator runs out of memory and converted to CMYK/outlines

Unfortunately, I can't see my figures anymore after illustrator converted to CMYK/outlines. If I saved it as PDF, I could see my figure. However, I I opened PDF file with Illustrator it comes white with outlines only. Could help pleas in fixing this problem.
