Illustrator's incredibly slow and laggy + workspaces have all gone

I'm not sure how but Illustrator seems to be getting worse....

The latest update is incredibly slow and laggy. Almost every object highlight has lag and moving an object is guesswork, having to undo and redo every action is the only way to get through even the smallest of tasks, within the smallest files.

I've also lost all my workspaces since it's updated, does anyone know of a way to get those back without going back in time-machine?

I'm running the latest version on latest version on full spec M1 Max on Sonoma 14.1.2.

I do have magnet running and that's solved it!

I'm running the M1 Max Macbook 32gm RAM with Sonoma OS 14.2.1 and I've been having this problem since we changed from the 2023 version to 2024, but no matter which version I use has the issue, it is extremely laggy especially when moving or resizing items, If I use my imac which is the intel chip seems don't have the problem

Do you have the Magnet app installed?

I'm running the latest version on an M1 Mac as well. It has just 32 GB of RAM and I have no reason whatsoever to complain. But I also do not have Sonoma installed.
