Illustrator Save for web +ALT [Remember] not working

Hi,

I've noticed that in several versions of Illustrator, pressing ALT while using Save for Web doesn't preserve [Remember] selections, such as setting the width to 600px by default. Is there a way to make sure these preferences are remembered?

Thanks

Hi @tomaszk64983110,

I understand how important it is to have your export settings remembered for efficiency. I tried this on my end, and the [Remember] selection seems to be working as expected.

Could you share which version of Illustrator you’re using? Also, if possible, a screen recording of your workflow would help me follow the exact steps you’re taking to see if I can replicate the issue. Additionally, does this happen with all files or just specific ones?

Let me know, and I’ll do my best to help!

Best,

Hello Anshul_Saini,
I am using licensed software in the latest version.

I am attaching a link to a movie showing how I click on [Remember] and you can see that it does not remember the width of 600px the next time I open the 'Save for Web' window. I think it is not Adobe's fault, but I expect too much 🙂

Thanks

Hi @tomaszk64983110,

Thanks for sharing the video — I reviewed it, and it seems that you’re adjusting the Image Size and pressing the ALT key to remember the settings. However, please note that only the values under the Preset section are retained when using the [Remember] option. Image size settings are not included in this functionality.

Since this is part of the Save for Web (Legacy) feature, there haven’t been any updates to this functionality in a long time. I tested this across multiple versions, from v29.3.1 back to v23.0, and the behavior has remained consistent in all versions. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to older versions to confirm if this worked differently in the past, but based on my findings, it doesn’t appear to be functioning as expected in any of the tested versions.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Best,

Anshul
