Has the same file worked before?

    Which application generated the file?

If it has not been Illustrator, please read:

    Thank you Monika,

no, the pdf is a generic pdf which I don’t know were it was created. But if I understood correctly, the problem when you open this kind of pdf, is that son data is lost in the process. The problem for me is that the pdf doesn’t even open, so is there any way I can open it? It doesn’t matter if I loose some info.

    Thanks

As long as the document is not corrupt you should be able to open it in Acrobat.

You can try and create a new file in Illustrator and then place the PDF in it.

Then embed (or even better: Flatten transparency)

    Maybe that works.

But: a PDF can contain a lot of data that Illustrator can't handle.

ALso: the PDF can be made in a rather sloppy way by that other application.

PDF was never meant to be edited. It has always been a presentation file format.
