Illustrator Transform Tool not working correctly

Hi

I am going round in circles on this one.

Latest version of Illustrator via CC

Windows 11 Home Premium

NVIDIA GEForce GPU

Transform Tool within the toolbar scales shapes when “restrain” is UNCHECKED.

Transform standalone Window does the same.

Some limited success if you enter the dimensions manually in the bottom area of the Toolbar window.

Have uninstalled / re-installed / uninstalled / re-installed - Cleaner Tool etc.

Bounding Box is selected.

Anyone any ideas of how to resolve - I need the transform tool to work correctly a lot in my line of work.

Thanks in advance

@mhrainforest It is a known problem, solved in beta.

According to the comments on Uservoice you can use the Properties panel as a workaround:

I have a project where I have to adapt an artwork into around 30 different versions. The Transform issue is a nightmare as will take many more hours to reformat all the options. How on earth does Adobe’s QA let such an obvious bug be released? When will the updated version of Illustrator be released? Is there a work around for unconstrained re-sizing of multiple artworks? I’m on 30.6, Mac OS 26.5.2

    Hello everyone,

Our team has tried fixing this issue in the latest Illustrator (beta) release, v30.8.0.7, and it should be available in the next general release. Please try installing the latest Illustrator (beta) (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/desktop/new-features/illustrator-beta-overview.html) and let us know how it goes.

Meanwhile, please use the dedicated Transform panel or the Properties panel as a workaround.

I am currently having this same issue. Using the Properties panel does work as a short term solution.

I was having the same problem… I honestly didn’t think this would work, but it DID.

corrupted settings might be the culprit. You can reset them by holding Cmd + Option + Shift (Mac) or Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) immediately after launching Illustrator

Thank You - This works for me as an interim ”fix”

    Hello @mhrainforest

That does seem troubling. Could you confirm the version of Illustrator installed and share a brief screen recording of your exact workflow and the problem, so we can investigate this further?

    Looking forward to your response.

Thank You - Ton’s link to the issue experienced in Beta and the workaround is working at the moment for me.
