Illustrator v. 27 Mac OS v 12.6.1 Illustrator adds a second .psd extension when packaging ai files

Every time I package an illustrator file, Illustrator adds a second .psd extension to every .psd file linked in the document. It also links the newly named double extension to the .ai file in the package. It only happes with .psd files, not .png or .jpg.

How do I stop this?
