Illustrator vs. Spark

Illustrator is a general purpose tool for creating vector graphics and type. Anything from a dinner menu to a wine bottle label, T-shirt, technical drawing, architectural rendering, website assets, or a colorful illustration for a book cover. Illustrator can correctly produce graphics for a printing press, video, or the web.

Spark is narrowly focused on using templates to rapidly create a graphic or video that is ready to post directly to specific social media sites. That is all it does.

If you want to design a complete website, neither tool is the right one. Illustrator cannot build full HTML web pages that are linked to each other.

If you want to design assets for a website, such as headers, buttons, ads, and so on, Illustrator can be useful for that. Illustrator provides ways for you to export graphics in web-friendly formats, so that web developers can integrate them with website code.
