Illustrator will not save changes to an edit coming from Acrobat.

I fully understand Illustrator is not a pdf editor.  There is an option though within Acrobat to use Illustrator to update or edit color vectors and such, which is what I am trying to do.  There is no problem opening the element in illustrator.  That works fine, it just will not allow me to save the color change after completing that action in illustrator. Obviously, I have made a change, but it doesn't allow me to save it.

I am working on a pdf in Acrobat.  When you need to edit a vector or such in acrobat, you have the option of opening it in Illustrator to make those changes, and that's what I am doing. There is an option to edit using illustrator, which is what I select.  I select a text box with a yellow fill, and open it in illustrator.  The box appears in illustrator, and I select it, change the color without issue, but then when I try to save it, the save button is grayed out.
