Question

Illustrator won't make clipping mask

I have the illustration wich is basically just some dots, i grouped all the dots. Put my text in front of it select both, make clipping mask. The text becomes white and it says the top object is very complex and may cause the document to fail to print or preview if used as a mask.

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Restarting Illustrator tends to work alot of the time for me. Go figure ……?

If anyone else is struggling with a similar issue. I just realized I had already made a clipping mask in a part of the document previously and didn't realize or remember that.. I had to release that before I could make another. Spent way too much time before I realized my mistake. I found the mistake when looking at the "layers" box.

Are you sure the text is above the grouped dots in the layers panel?

Lou,

It ought to work.

Is the Type outlined? If it is, you should select all the letters and Object>Compound Path>Make.
