Illustrator won't properly export DXF file.

I'm currently working on a image for a school club that is to be used as a sticker. For some reason, when I try to export the image as a DXF file, a PNG file of the image is saved, along with a DXF file of the file location of the PNG image. I'm somewhat new to Adobe Illustrator and couldn't find anything else about this problme here, so any help is aprecciated. I'm currently exporting using Autocad version 2010/2011/2012, with maximum editability and true color selected. I'm also using Windows.
