Illustrator won't reinstall due to duplicate files

I previously uninstalled illustrator to save space but am trying to reinstall it. Each time however I get an error message that it can't install due to there being duplicate files on my laptop. I can't find the duplicate files (I opened the error log to find the names and then searched my laptop but nothing came up) is there any way to make the installer overwrite these files or to delete them without having to find each one individually? (they come up in the error log with names like 'coresync-mul' but won't show up when I search my laptop.
