Illustratror lags badly after last update

As the tilte says, Illustrator Iags quite badly after the last update (30.0). I have a pc with Windows 11, an Nvidia 3080 GPU and 64Gb of RAM, so it shouldn't be a problem of specs to low for what I'm doing.

I tried to upgrade my GPU driver, to close and reopen Illustrator, to restart my pc, to update windows, bat none of this helped. The only thing it seems to reduce the lag is to change the rendering settings from GPU to CPU (with CTRL+E). It is quite strange since my GPU works perfectly in any other workload, and looking at the task manger it doesn't even seem to throttle (it stays at around 20-25% usage at a temperature of 44°C) and the ram usage is at around 12-20Gb .

I need a fix for this, since it's quite a pain to draw with Illustrator with this kind of lag...

Hello @Massimo33337632fpcz,

Thanks for confirming. Please try manually resetting Illustrator's preferences and check if it helps:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Go to Location C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

- Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 30 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 30 Settings.old

- Relaunch Illustrator from Creative Cloud

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I've been waiting about 5 minutes now to see if 30.0 is going to recover from yet another "not responding' error. Initially 30.0 seemed really stable, but this week it has been freezing constantly. Switching tools? Not responding. Pan with the space bar? Not responding. Select same color strokes? Not responding. It's not just these specific things, but I do these a lot get tons of crashes. Sometimes it comes out of it, but other times I have to restart the program. It's so random too. We are so busy at work and this is just killing my productivity.

To clarify: this does not happen with the previous version of Illustrator, only the most recent one (30.0).

Just as Releno_ said, before the 30.0 it worked fine for me, now every time I zoom or pan it lags.

I tried installing both Studio and Gaming drivers for my GPU, the Studio one (recommended) with a clear procedure, nothing has changed. I have just one account on my pc so I cannot switch to another one to try.

Same here, it lags every time I pan around or zoom in or out. Freezes for about 3 seconds each time. Completely unusable.

Hello @Massimo33337632fpcz,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU(s) drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/4qDqkkc) and checking if it helps? Also, try to run Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

**** additional new info after some tests ****
Lag does not happen in isolated view. For example if I group the whole design and double click on it to go into isolated view I experience no lag in zooming at all.
This might be a clue for devs.

Same here!

On average it takes 4sec after each zoom in or out scroll with the mouse wheel to regain control and to continue working.

No lag in previous versions. No matter if it'a a new file created in 30 or an old one.

Safe mode restart does nothing for me.

GPU acceleration and Animeted zoom settings make no difference if turned on or off.
