Question

Image alignment issue with two text boxes on same plain.

I've been recreating some patches, and I've noticed that when I create two text boxes or use two text type on paths, it offsets my entire image when I import the AI file into InDesign or another AI file. This wouldn't be much of a problem, but I'm using data merge to change text and patch images in a master document, and it keeps jumping around. I've seen other comments mentioning a similar issue, but they are exporting the image from AI, whereas I'm importing the AI file directly and not using an exported image created by AI.

Can you please describe step by step what you are doing and also post more meaningful screenshots?

I don't know how much more detailed you need! I have a patch I am updating and it has a number on both side. So when I import the AI file its offset. The second screen shot is the three variations I am working on directly placed in a InDesign document. As you can see the third one has more space on the right hand side, and because I will be using data merge later it will jump around.
