I'm trying to use this image as an eye with shadow area around outer portion. When I try to copy this Jpeg into AI and trace the image i get solid oval...no granularity. I originally created this in AI using the Sprayer Tool with spray paint pattern. It appears to be in layers (some gray, some black) I tried to group the image to flatten it but I can't get the colors to change for the entire image.

I need to be able to change the color of the entire image to a single color. When I insert this eye into my other drawing (to represent the eye) and try to change the color the rest of the image...including text will change color...either stroke or fill but not this eye. I've tried the user manual but get lost. Any suggestions? thanks

    Maybe with it selected

    open the symbols panel

    Windows > Symbol

and at the bottom of that panel, click

    Break link to symbol

The image is too small or your tracing options too coarse.

Can you expand the brush in the original drawing? Then colorize any way you like.

A screenshot of the brush that is somehow wrong would also help.

i got closer to what I was after. I can change the color to the entire image but still have the outline (stroke) showing in black. When I click on the stroke attributes it doesn't give me the option for no stroke. I have a similar issue with the image I'm pasting this "eye" into.

    any suggestions?

    thanks
