Image placing wrong way round when importing

Running Illustrator CC2022 on Monterrey OS.

When I place a for example, a horizontal image into illustrator document, the image places vertically, why?

How can I get images to place the correct way round withour rotoaing after placing image

do this happen with all images? If you open them in Photoshop, do they open correctly or rotated?
