Imgs re-link issue AI CS5.5

We bought Adobe Designer Standard kit CS5.5 a few years ago, and continuously using PS, AI, InDesign…

Lately we’re going to move all the files from old NAS to new Drive, however the img links IP seems unable to switch automatically in Adobe Illustrator, please see screenshot below. (The subfolders structure we keep them all the same)

It keeps referring to \\192.168.1.200\xxxxxxxx... which is still our old NAS Driver’s IP.

It’s gonna be a big trouble for us if all the ai files need to be re-linked manually… we have hundreds of it.

If there’s any solution, would anyone kindly let me know?

Hi Natalie,

Sorry about this trouble, however, this is expected behavior. Before passing to the new drive, please package the file with all the links and instructions and then move it to the new drive.

Please check out this link for more details: Package files in Illustrator.

I just checked this feature is available in CS6 and later versions. For CS5 you may have to link these files manually or try these scripts:

Or you may check our Illustrator Scripting forum.

Dear Srishti,

Thank you very much for reply this quickly, and sorry for my late responds.

It took us a while to check out the solutions as you suggested, and discuss with our IT dept.

Unfortunately not work for us, it don't fit our requirement to package each ai, in that way the shared images will be duplicated many times, it'll be a mess to manage while updating images, some popular products img possibly be shared by 30-50 ai files.

Anyway, thank you for answering!

Best regards,

Natalie Chang
