Imported png blurry when exporting in Illustrator

Question

I need to import a photo into Illustrator, but whenever I export the file as a PDF, the imported photo is blurry! I tried resizing it to be smaller, resizing it to be larger, checking my export settings, etc. What do I do?

I understand how confusing this can be when the image looks fine in Illustrator but appears blurry after exporting to PDF. To help narrow this down, could you please confirm the exact Illustrator version you're using, along with your OS details, and let me know whether this issue occurs with all PNG files or only a specific one?

It would also be really helpful if you could share a screenshot of how the image looks inside Illustrator and how it looks after exporting to PDF, along with a screenshot of the PDF export window you're using. While testing, please check the Compression section in the export settings and make sure the downsampling isn't set too aggressively, ideally keeping the effective resolution close to 300 ppi. If possible, feel free to share a screenshot of that setting as well.
