Question

in ArtiosCAD line types swatch, the "Crease" is in Book Color instead of Spot Color

In llustrator 28.1 installed the  plug-in Esko Data Exchange 23.11 (AI2022, AI2023 & AI2024) so i could use the ArtiosCAD Line Types needed to our workflow.

Only the "Crease" is acting different from all the prevoius versions.

It appears in BookColor instead of SpotColor and with altered LAB values, which means that it is not recognized throughout the rest of the workflow. Only this color presents this inconsistency, all others continue with the behavior of previous versions and the same values. I tried to install an older version of the Swatch Library and create one with the colors I want, but as soon as I open the application, Crease changes it to BookColor. If I go directly to the swatch and click twice on the swatch and change it to SpotColor with the RGB (R255G0B0) value from previous versions, it works correctly in the rest of the workflow but it requires me to do this operation in all the files I make and if it ever fails it could have  serious production consequences.

I think it can depend on your workflow… we do not have issues in how our workflow is configured. I know that Esko have in past been inconsistent with naming colours some times useing "cut" other times "Cut", als "crease" vs "Crease". This is definately a problem at the side of ESKO since they provide the swatches.

There is bothe the ESKO fold window that creates these colours, there is also the ESKO Finishining Swatch books, you can create your own swatch books. Remember that if you close all documents you can create/load the swatches you want to be your default swatches for all new jobs.

I updated again the illustrator and still have the same issue.

The "crease" swatch still become a book color instead of a Spot Color like all ther other ArtiosCad colors.

Any ideas??

Still happening in Illustrator 28 and now also in AI 27, in the same computer. How to bypass transforming the spot colour "Crease" in a "book color"??

Hello @bcgraca,

Thanks for sharing the details. Would you mind confirming if Illustrator behaves this way with all files? If so, kindly share a public link to a sample file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., and a screen recording of your entire workflow and the problem (https://adobe.ly/3LVZHnd), so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hello @bcgraca,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind trying to install a previous version of Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/48O5WTF) and checking if it helps? Also, try checking with Esko's Support (https://adobe.ly/48SB5Wa) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thanks for the reply.

With the previous versions there is no problem. I am trying to get to know the new features of version 28 and have this handicap in my production workflow, that's why we didn't update the rest of our licences.

But it's strange and i'm trying to work it out. Any help is apreciated 😉
