Question

Inconsistent colors when importing an image in AI

Hallo dear Adobe community,

I have a color problem importing a RGB image into AI.

The first Image is it as shown imported into AI, the second is the original version.

I have tested the document color mode between RGB/CMYK option and each of the option under EDIT> Colorsettings, but the result never comes close to the original.

Any suggest?

Thanks in advance

PNG files are not handled very well by Illustrator (and Photoshop).

ICC profiles are ignored when importing and exporting.

I suppose that your placed PNG has a different ICC profile that your current Illustrator document.

Can you open the png in Photoshop and resave it as .psd?

Well, are the images actually tagged with proper color profiles/ adjusted to a specific profile? Sounds like you're missing that part. Just arbitrarily setting profiles is not real color management.
