Intro Screen flashes the usual content for a sec, then turns black (nothing) except for the menus...

Longtime Illustrator user (Ver. 28.0).

Windows 11.

Today when I started up Illustrator it showed the usual home screen for just a second, then it disappeared and the entire screen is black except for the menus at the top left.  I am able to open and edit files, but after a couple minutes all the various windows (Stroke/Properties, Layers, etc.) disappeared too.

I restarted the computer.

I reset my preferences. ('Show the home screen when no documents are open' is checkmarked.)

Do I perhaps need to reinstall?

Are you using any third party plug-ins either for Illustrator or your OS? If so try disabling them and see if the problem persists.

Nope. It worked fine until the middle of this this week, when it didn't.  😃

Hello @Two-fer,

Thanks for sharing the details. Would you mind trying the following steps and checking if it helps:

If the problem persists, try setting up a new user account and launching Illustrator under the new account to see if it works there.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @Two-fer,

Would you mind trying the following steps and checking if they help:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from the following location:

(Windows) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP

- Relaunch Illustrator

If the problem persists, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

1. Renaming the 'UXP' folder: No change. (See the video--It opens, the Home screen is displayed briefly, then the screen automatically minimizes. (I then manually maximized the screen.).)

(I assumed a new 'UXP' folder would be created, but it wasn't. Is that okay?)

I also restarted, but no change.

2. Use Admin account: I had our IT admin use 'Run as Administrator' for Illustrator (including using my password/ 2-factor identification), and then the Home page showed up and did not disappear (i.e., it worked normally).

When he closed the program (leaving Admin mode), the same problem reoccurred.
