Intuos Pro M or L help

Hi all I'm looking to upgrade from my current tablet but I wasn't sure which size would be best for my needs, so I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.

I currently have a Huion H610PRO which I've had for around 4 years now, I've been having issues with it lately so I thought now would be a good time to get a wacom intuos pro M or L.

I've heard people say what size tablet you should get depends on your monitor size (wasn't sure how true it was), atm I have a 22" monitor at 1080p but I'm looking to upgrade to a 25" 1440p within a few months time.

I'd mainly use the tablet for drawing in Photoshop and inking artwork in Illustrator (screen printed posters to be exact).

Any help would be much appreciated.

If I'm drawing on a tablet I normally draw from the wrist so no long sweeps using my arm simply because the tablet doesn't allow it but if I'm drawing on paper then I usually draw with my whole arm and from my wrist.

Unfortunately here in the UK there aren't any stores that have display models which is a major pain in the back side, you can only purchase them.


If you draw from the wrist, It would be better to buy the size you are already used to. I have seen people struggle when moving from smaller ones to large ones.

How large is your current tablet?

And is this too large or too small or just right?

If it works perfectly for you, then just get the same size.

Current tablet has an active area of 10" x 6.25". I'ts been fine for me size wise so far, wasn't really sure if the extra £100 for the intuos L would be worth it or not for the type of work that I want to do.

I was planning on just getting the same size tablet that I have now but the intuos M is a bit smaller than the tablet that I have now while the intuos L is larger so the wacoms aren't the same size.

It's a question of your habits. Do you prefer drawing in large moves or are you rather the type who paints the Battle of Hastings onto a matchbook.

If it is at all possible: is there a store in your area where you can try it out? Then you can see if the smaller are matters to you or not. Sometimes a centimeter can make a difference (or how much it may be) - I have an older Intuos M, which works OK for me. I think the newer ones are slightly larger than mine.
