Inverted colors when embedding file

I've been creating art on Procreate, sending myself the PDF and trying to save into Ai but when I embed the image, Ai inverts the color. What's going on and how to correct this?

    Procreate is primarily a pixel-based image editing application for the iPad platform. What kind of color modes are you using in Procreate? Are you using any unusual blending operations in the artwork? If the artwork is somehow getting converted from a mode like P3 RGB into CMYK and there is different transparency modes in place (like screen, multiply, etc) the color could go all wonky.

    It's probably going to be easier exporting a Photoshop PSD file and then opening that PSD file in Photoshop to edit further.

    I just tried exporting as a jpeg instead of PDF and it works fine. Thanks
