Is Helvetica Neue only available on certain operating systems through Adobe?

Hello,

Is Helvetica Neue considered one of the default fonts that Adobe automatically installs into their programs as a font option?

The reason I am asking is because I have access to Helvetica Neue in Adobe Illustrator and I am certain that I did not install the font - it was already there when installed Adobe Illustrator BUT my friend who also has Adobe Illustrator installed on their computer does not have the Helvetica Neue option at all.

I am on a MAC and she is on a PC - does that matter? Is it exclusive to certain OS?

Adobe doesn't really install fonts into their apps at all. The list of fonts you get comes from

- the system (and it regularly changes)

- other fonts you have purchased, downloaded and installed

- fonts you have activated in the Adobe Fonts service with Creative Cloud (Adobe can remove them at any time, and has done).

To collaborate, part of the process is to have a discussion about EXACTLY what fonts you will use and where you will get them. Helvetica Neue is a Mac font. It is ILLEGAL to share this font with anyone, so that isn't a solution... for Mac systems I find this page useful https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_typefaces_included_with_macOS
