Question

Is it Illustrator or is it my Mac Book Pro, OR corrupt file?

Since "upgrading" to my M1 Maxc chip Mac book pro, I have had ongoing Adobe INDD and AI lags and crashes.  (Also photoshop and acrobat, but leaving that off the table for now).

INDD is noticibly better (although still slow compared to my 2019 Intel MBP.) But Illustrator has not caught up. Apple says its Adobe, and Adobe says the issue is Apple. Who knows. My latest issue is with a couple adobe stock files. (AdobeStock_309985907, AdobeStock_402266806). I can't even select a portion of these vector illustraions without a crashing. Yes, I can find other files to use. But why should my M1 Max 64GB Mac Book Pro not be able to copy/paste a portion of an illustraion into another Illustraor file?

I have tried a couple things (based on tech support from Apple and Adobe) like: reseting preferences, opening in safe mode, opening as another user, uninstalling and reinstalling illustraor. I have gone down the "chome is bad" conspiracy hole and deleted all chrome and keystone files to no change in performance for INDD or AI.

1. Is it unreasonable that my MBP should be able to open and modify a Adobe stock vector illustraion?

2. Does anyone have any solutions for the performace (other than the ones listed above)

3. What is the source of the crappy Mac Book Pro performance for INDD, AI, Photoshop and Acrobat (yes - i have issues with all of them) Is is Apple, the M1 Pro Chop or Adobe? I have PLENTY of Ram.

Hello @Minnepolitan,

Sorry to hear about this experience. Kindly allow me some time while I check the files you have shared with the product team and get back to you.

Thanks,
Anubhav

Because you've already tried resetting preferences and uninstalling/reinstalling, you might try using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool:
