Is the saving as PDF the use of the original file in Illustrator should be disregarded?

This is the big conflit with me and a small group of my colleagues. Some of them deleted the Illustrator source after save as PDF. They tell me that it is better to edit straight in Acrobat Professional. My point of view is that the Illustrator Program is better than Acrobat for edit/change/redraw because the Illustrator have much more options and tools to edit the file better than the Acrobat.

Is there any good advice about it?

Best regards,

Andréa

Andrea, you are right. Illustrator is meant for editing PDF Illustrator files.

    Acrobat for delivery.

Although you can edit PDF's in Acrobat, it is always better to edit the original file in the program that created it.

It's always a bad idea to delete source files. It's not too intelligent to delete them even if you prefer to edit in Acrobat.

Depending on the workflow and what exactly you need to do in the files, Acrobat might be good to do it. E.g. some prepress stuff.

In some cases you need to edit a PDF in third party tools such as ArtPro for packaging workflows.

But there are things that should be done in Illustrator. Editing shapes, editing the text and typography, editing the artwork as a whole. This doesn't make sense to do in other applications, except when yoe want to lose your mind and a lot of time.
