Is there a way to select all saved selections?

I've created 3 saved selections.

Now I'd like to select all 3 at once.

Is that possible?

You may do it with an action that includes the following steps:

  1. In the Actions palette flyout menu, use the Insert Menu Item command to choose Selection 1.
  2. In the Attributes palette, add a note with a unique name.
  3. Repeat step 1. to choose Selection 2
  4. In the Attributes palette, add the same note as in step 2.
  5. Repeat step 3. to choose Selection 3.
  6. In the Attributes palette, add the same note as in step 2 and 4.
  7. In the Actions palette flyout menu, choose the Select Object command and type the note you added in step 2, 4 and 6.

Run the action to select all saved selections.

Once you've selected them all, you can of course create a new saved selection that includes selection 1 to 3.

Great, thanks Kurt, that works, and is not at all obvious!

(Note to anyone else struggling with Step 2: You have to fully expand the Attributes panel (it is collapsed by default), by clicking on the tiny up-down triangles, to see the Note area.)

Not at once.

But can you hold down shift and then just select the next one?

Hi Monika,

It would be fine to select one after the other, but even that doesn't seem to work.

I've save the selections and am accessing them through the Select menu.

Even if I hold down Shift, the selection is switched to the saved selection I choose, it is not added to the existing selection.

Is there another way of accessing saved selections except through the Select menu, where Shift would work?

(For added info: I'm using Select > Same to create the 3 selections. There are 3 types of object that need to be extracted from artwork (guides, outline, shaded areas), so it's convenient to use Select > Same to select them and create a selection from them. But then, I need to select all 3 selections at once, copy, and paste into InDesign. If I select each one in turn and copy into InDesign, their relative positions are messed up. So I need to copy all 3 at once and paste. So, if, after creating 3 selections, I could then select them all at once, that would be the answer.)
