Is there any requirement white overprint option in Adobe illustrator?

Is there any requirement white overprint option in Adobe illustrator? I think it is a total un-useful option, I am a prepress specialist & regular we are facing the problem, white overprint element showing when file is in separation preview mode off but when separation preview mode on, the element will invisible, it is difficult to trace to found where it is. the element is unprintable.

It's my opinion this option should be remove from this application, if I am wrong then let me understand what is it the utility of this option in printing industry & for a graphic designer.
