Question

Isolating graphics

I have an ai document that has several versions of my company logo. They are a B/W and Colour version, Portrait and landscape. I want to save an ai copy of each of the 4 versions. How can I select each version and save then separately? I admit very little knowledge of Illustrator.:)

Secondly, these logos will be eventually be used in both Photoshop and InDesign so I am wondering once each one is isolated, is it better they be saved as an ai or eps format?

I tried another tack and open the ai document rather than place the ai document into a new blank document. I know can use the selection tool to draw a rectangle around one of them. I can then copy and paste into a new document and all is good. The problem is it has a white background and I want it to be transparent.

We'd have to know for sure whether you have vector graphics or raster images on the artboard. For that we'll need a screenshot with the layers panel in view and sublayers expanded. Exactly how are you arriving at the belief there's a white background? Is it possible you're mistaking the artboard for a white background?
