Question

Issue: Snapping and Smart Guide controls for handles have stopped working.

Previous Behavior:

  • When selecting a path with the Direct Select tool, handles were visible.
  • Hovering over a handle would trigger snapping and display the “handle” label  without requiring the anchor point to be selected.
  • I could snap handle-to-handle.
  • I could draw guides from a handle using the Line tool, thanks to snapping.

Current Behavior:

  • Handles no longer snap or display “handle” when hovered.
  • Handle-to-handle snapping is gone.
  • Drawing precise guides from handles is no longer possible.

Impact:

This significantly reduces precision for technical illustration work and makes accurate line drawing more difficult.

Request:

Please restore the previous snapping and Smart Guide behavior for handles. The current implementation removes essential control.

Which Illustrator version and what System are you using? Seem to work on 29.7.1 on Mac

I am using that version on PC.

the handles snapping could happen when highlighting the path specifically and not the anchor point. I can do it with the anchor point highlighted but it is not the same.

can you snap 2 handles on top of eachother? Thanks for your time

When 2 anchor points are selected, I can snap one handle to another, although the other diasppears, it will display Handle when I get there. When the entire paths are selected, the handle snapping is gone.
