Issues when creating text outlines on illustrator

Hi! I was hoping you could help me. Recently whenever I create an outline for my text on Illustrator it just creates those weird outlines on my whole document and the text itself. I can't even draw a line and change the stroke width. It deletes any image I have on the document as well. How do I fix this?
