Issues with opening and AI file

HI.

A designer created some artwork for me in AI. She has sent the AI file. However, I have issues trying to open it. It get the following as I go to open it.

Followed by a blank white screen. I have tried opening this on both my home computer which is running AI CS 4 and on my work computer which has AI CS 6. She states that it works fine on her computer which runs AI CS 6.

Can anyone enlighten me and tell me why if it is created on AI CS and I try and open in AI CS 6 it does not simply just open?

    Is there anything in the layers panel?

    What color should it be?

    Does the artwork have a PDF part? Can you open it in Acrobat?

    If nothing helps: ask her to ZIP it before sending it via e-mail.
