Hi all,

Can anyone help me out with this issue?

I've created a 3D shape and then expanded it, but the line looks really jagged.. also when exporting to PDF and PNG

Thank you!

One other thing. If you export to png you should expect it to look pixelated if you try to enlarge it from its original size. That is because png is a raster format that is resolution dependent. Exporting as an .ai or pdf will keep it as vector which does not depend on resolution.

Thank you all for your answers!

The exported PDF is vector based, I've created the artwork in 3D and then expanded it (Object > Expand).

When exporting to PNG you create pixels. Please read about pixel based artwork in case you don't understand the concept.

But even vector based artwork needs to be rendered on screen, which is pixel based. If the PDF is vector based or pixel based, depends on how you created the artwork.

The 3D effect is purely vector based unless you apply specific options which needs to be converted to pixels. Did you?

Try turning off GPU Performance. Click on the rocket ship in Illustrator's top menu bar to access it.
