Lag in Menus after upgrading to Illustrator 29.5

Since the update to 29.5. all submenus are displayed with a long delay. (sometimes up to 2 seconds).

This applies both to the sub-options of the right-click menu (transform -> scale) and to the sub-menu items of the main menu (for example, Object -> Path -> Merge)

Hello @mario71799581,

Thanks for sharing the details. While I check this with the team, could you update your Mac to the latest version of macOS (https://adobe.ly/3Gz1JKO) and see if it helps?

Also, try to run Illustrator under a different administrator account (macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anubhav,

I updated my system to 15.4.1 today. First the delay on the menus still existed under my Account.

But I also tried the suggestion to test it with another user account on my system. Here the delay did not occur and the menus opened smoothly. This leads me to suspect that something is wrong with my the Illustrator settings in my account.

So i tried reseting my whole Workspace - which fixed the issue i guess (For the sake of completeness: I use several monitors - I have several palettes on one of them.) The Submenus no open as fast as expected.

Thanks again for helping me out - and i hope this solutions can help others which are affected by this issue.

Best,
Mario

Hello everyone,

The product team has requested additional information:

  1. Does this issue happen after working for some time in Illustrator, or does it happen immediately after launching the program?
  2. Please confirm if this happens when working with new files as well?
3. Please confirm if this happens after reverting to Illustrator 29.4 (https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html) as well.
3. Would it be possible to have a debug session with us? If yes, please send me your Adobe email ID, Phone number with country code, preferred time and day for the meeting, your timezone, and country via DM.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am also having the same issue. My delays are even longer. Sometimes up to 6 seconds. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator, restarted my computer and run a disk utility and nothing has resolved the issue. I am running iOS Sequoia 15.4.1

Hello @Brenda238038252qfz,

Would you mind trying the suggestions shared earlier to try running Illustrator under Safe Mode or a different admin account to see if it helps?

If the problem persists, kindly confirm if this happens when working with particular files and provide a small screen recording of the problem so I can investigate further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @mario71799581,

Would you mind trying to run Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

If the problem persists, kindly confirm the version of the OS installed, if this happens when working with particular files, and a small screen recording of the problem, so I can investigate further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anubhav,

Unfortunately, the problem persists. I have also tested it in safe mode - unfortunately the delay of the submenus is similarly slow.
Im using Illustrator on Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.2. on an M2 Pro.

I also attached you an example Video where you hopefully can see the delay.

Best,

Mario
