Question

lenovo ideapad p400 touch

I'm buying a lenovo ideapad p400 touch later today because i dislocated my knee yesterday leaving me immobile and unable to use my pc and with research it has an i7, 1tb storage (local disk C i think that's HD), and it has integrated graphics (intel HD graphics 4000) so everything so far seems like it would be supported but i only have $150 MAX to spend on a laptop for illustrator for the meantime

is Adobe Illustrator okay to use on your new computer? The requirements are as of:
https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/illustrator/system-requirements.html#ai-on-the-desktop

Processor

Multicore Intel processor (with 64-bit support) with SSE 4.2 or later or AMD Athlon 64 processor with SSE 4.2 or later.

Operating system
  • Windows 11 v22H2 and v21H2, Windows 10 v22H2 and v21H2
  • Windows Server 2022, 2019

Note: Not supported on Windows 10 versions 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909, 2004, 20H2, 21H1

RAM

8 GB of RAM (16 GB recommended) 

Hard disk

2 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation; SSD recommended

Monitor resolution

1024 x 768 display (1920 x 1080 recommended)

To use Touch workspace in Illustrator, you must have a touch-screen-enabled tablet/monitor running Windows 10 (Microsoft Surface Pro 3 recommended)

 

Scalable UI Limitations: Minimum monitor resolution required is 1920 x 1080.

GPU

To enhance Illustrator performance with the GPU Performance feature, your Windows must:

  • Have a minimum of 1 GB of VRAM (4 GB recommended)
  • Support OpenGL version 4.0 or greater.

For optimum pan and zoom performance, a minimum of 1.5 GB of VRAM is required.

 

Limitations in Outline Mode: Minimum monitor resolution required is 2000 pixels in any dimension.

 

Ensure that you install and update your GPU device drivers.

    the laptop i’m looking at has windows 11 23H2 an i7-3632qm processor, 16gb of ram, an INTEL(R) HD 4000 graphics card, 1tb HD, with a 10 point touch support.

     

    Do you think it would run adobe illustrator well?

    16 GB of RAM is the bare minimum. Illustrator will only run well if you do not plan to use anything complex (that includes 3D)
