Line variations in isometric drawings

Question

Hello. I have a school project that requires a isometric drawing to have thinner line width inside and thicker line width outside the drawing. I accomplished this by uniting the shapes that make it up and putting it on top with no fill while increasing the line width. Is the the best method?

The best method always depends on your workflow and the objects involved.

But your method is of course valid.

An option is to group them (instead of uniting) and apply a fat stroke to the group. But that might not always work.

When uniting objects using the Pathfinder panel, you might want to make copies of said objects in case of later editing.
