Linked images shifting in size and position

This glitch/bug is affecting linked images untouched outside of Illustrator, they're shifting in size and position. In some cases changing the aspect ratio of the linked file as well. I've gone back to an older version of Illustartor (29.3) thinking that it worked, now finding out from external vendors that the issue is still there. The files we work on can't always accommodate embedding images due to the increase in file size.

Hello @ronp35049786,

Apologies for the delayed response. A similar issue was observed in an earlier version of Illustrator. Could you please update Illustrator to the latest version on both machines and check if the issue persists?

Additionally, if the problem occurs only with specific files, and if yes try copying the layers or objects from those files into a new file and let me know what you observe.

Thanks for getting back to me, a combination of updating Illustrator and having a laptop replaced seems to have fixed the issue.

Hello @ronp35049786,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Can you please confirm which version of Illustrator you're using and your operating system? Also, let me know if these images were originally linked and later embedded, or if they’ve always been embedded. If possible, try saving a copy of the file as an AI or PDF and then reopening it to see if the images stay in place.

A short screen recording showing the exact shifting behavior would also help us understand what's happening and check with the team further. Feel free to share a sample file as well for us to test and reproduce. If confidential, please share it via DM on the community.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
