Live measurements not working - showing black box

Bit odd but when I create circles, rectangles, lines etc instead of the measurements appearing next to the cursor, I'm just getting a black box where they should be. Obviously a bug but not sure how to resolve. I've done a screen capture here:

You can try to check/uncheck with Preview in GPU in Preference. May be that can help.

Ah, I did have that turned off. I remember turning it off as there was another weird issue but I can't remember what that was now! I'll see how I get on. Thanks.
