Live Paint Bucket Grouped Items and i can't ungroup them

i was using live paint bucket to fill in and when I selected the items I dragged a window to select the items. Unfortunately it also selected other items and now I need to delete them but when I select them it also selects the items I wish to keep. any suggestions? I tried ungrouping but it seems like they may not be grouped. I only use the software for the laser marking machine so I'm not very good with it yet. But I don't want to start over either. I'm using AI CS4 in case it matters

    The live paint group is a special object.

    You could double click it to enter isolation mode. Then delete what you don't need. Alternatively use the group selection tool.

    In any case: before feeding it to the laser you will most probably need to expand it and maybe do some additional pathfinder operations on it.
