Lock Toolbar

My problem is you move tools without noticing. Then I go back to the toolbar and I can't find the tool I need so I have to take the time to reset the toolbar.

Is there any way to lock the toolbar? I'd even hack a file someplace to stop this if someone could tell me how.

This is one of the biggest hits to my productivity when working in Illustrator. I am so frustrated by this at this point I am ready to downgrade my creative cloud version and stop paying so it won't update anymore.

I have been using Adobe products since the early 2000s and this last update has been the most frustrating I have ever experienced.

Hi Kenton,

We are extremely sorry about this frustration. I would request if you can share your feedback here and upvote this issue here: New Customizable Toolbar need a way to Lock – Adobe Illustrator Feedback

This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.

Regards,

Srishti

Which is your workspace? Does change to Essential Classic solve your "problem".

Can you show us some screenshots?

Please explain in detail: What do you mean:"My problem is you move tools without noticing. Then I go back to the toolbar and I can't find the tool I need …"?

Probably Kenton is talking about a known issue or flaw in the latest version of Illustrator that allows you to drag and move tools in the main tool palette. Obviously, many users do that accidentally (depending on the device they are using).

The problem has already been discussed and I think you can find a feature request to lock the tools.
