locked layers

in my AI when i used to try to highlight a layer that was locked a little keypad icon would appear to show the layer is locked and u could click on it to unlock the layer of choice, but the new 2024 version doesnt have this happening is there a way i can reactive this feature?

In Preferences > Selection & Anchor display turn on "Select and Unlock objects on canvas"
