Question

Looking for a script that will delete all instances of a live effect

I'm looking specifically for a way to delete live drop shadows in any object within a file. These seem to flag Indesign that colors are present even when in grayscale.

Thanks in advance for any help!

i haven't looked into this extensively, but i know that it's very difficult or impossible to get inside the appearance panel via script, and that's where this drop shadow would live. i'll poke around, but i'm not sure a regular script can do this. =(

I appreciate the offer but please don't worry about it! Thanks for letting me know the difficulty up front as it sounds beyond my very basic scripting experience. I think for now i'll just look through the layers panel to see which objects have attributes and go from there. At least that narrows down the search when this issue comes up.

Thanks again!

Even though I think a script can't fix them for you, I might be able to

slap something together that at least identifies them if they are present

and alert you.. I'll take a look. Could be fun.
