lost an Illustrator file but saved as PDF

Hi,

Illustrator crashed on my Mac, so I lost my document. However, I had saved it as a PDF just before. Is there a solution for:
1. find my file
2. work again from my PDF file on illustrator

    What happens when you open the PDF in Illustrator? Was it saved with Preserve Illustrator Editing turned on?

    When I open the PDF in Illustrator, my pages appear as a single block. I can't change anything on it.

    Open the layers panel.

    Most likely you need to embed the artwork. Then ungroup. Release clipping masks, etc.
