Major Erasure Issue

I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the lines where the rounded rectangle forms meet the circle (see attached doc). I need to create a stencil (using a cutting machine), so the interior lines have to dissapear. I have been trying with no success for hours. How can something this simple be so complicated?  Please advise.
