Making oblong concentric circles / Masking them

I am working on this logo. As you can see, the concentric inner circles have variable widths, which is not wanted, do not end at the same point, which is wanted, and the inner most circle does not cut off where the masked 'A' begins.

Any advice for cleaning it up?

The URL will expire on Sep 10.

This should get you going you can use masks and pathfinder trim to finish up.

Open your appearance palette and you can see i added offset path filters to get this perfect.

I left copies at various stages, so you can practice and edit colors and stroke thickness as needed.

    Thanks!

I posted another, related question. Asking about whether it's possible to join paths at intersection with an anchor point.
