Map Art not showing up?

I made this tim for class and a symbol to put on it and it doesn't show up in the preview or when I click ok? Any suggestions? Thanks

After applying the Effect, Turn it OFF/ON from the appearance Panel ( make sure to keep the object selected )

If mappes art doesn't show up, usually this is caused by single anchor points or invisible artwork in the map symbol.
